New Orleans-BP took honors as top gun of an otherwise lackluster Western Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 210 on August 19, turning in the single highest bid for a coveted deepwater block and the largest total apparent high bids for the entire auction. The sale captured $115.5 million in total high bids, the lowest amount for a Western sale in 10 years and less than a quarter of the $487 million of high bids at last year's Western Sale 207.
