Sri Lankan Ceypetco regains trade status for products

Singapore-Sri Lanka's Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) has regained its status as a commercial entity and will from now on have sole responsibility for handling imports of petroleum products, trading sources said last week. Previously the Sri Lankan General Treasury had oversight of Ceypetco, having taken over responsibility of the corporation in December 2008 following a public interest lawsuit filed in November by the country's supreme court. Since then, the treasury has been in charge of issuing buy tenders on behalf of Ceypetco, which saw it regularly seeking parcels of gasoline, jet, gasoil and fuel oil on a monthly basis.
