Shell to spend $500 million on Pernis refinery unit

London-Shell plans to to build a new hydrodesulfurization unit at its 400,000 b/d Pernis refinery in the Netherlands, specifically aiming to produce lower-sulfur heating oil for the German market, the company said August 13.
