LyondellBasell offering ETBE as gasoline blending option

Houston-LyondellBasell has offered Venezuela and Mexico the option of buying ethanol-based ETBE for gasoline blending instead of MTBE when the company converts a unit to ETBE production in the fourth quarter, market sources said July 14. A 32,000 b/d MTBE unit at Lyondell-Basell's Houston plant will likely begin producing ETBE in October, sources close to the company said.
