Hong Kong-Trading in China Eastern Airlines' shares on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges was suspended June 8 amid growing rumors of an impending merger between the company and smaller domestic carrier Shanghai Airlines. In a statement to the HKSE, China's third-largest airline said trading in its shares was halted pending the release of "price sensitive" information. No other details were given. Shanghai Airlines, meanwhile, also called off trading in its shares on the SSE, pending further announcements.
