Washington-A lack of credit and weak global economic conditions combined with volatile and uncertain natural gas and oil prices have put a damper on mergers and acquisitions by energy companies, two major auditing and consulting firms said. "Activity remained subdued in the first half of 2009, falling approximately 51% year over year, from 313 deals in the first six months of 2008 to 154 in the current year," analysts at Deloitte's Center for Energy Solutions said October 23, writing from a worldwide perspective.
