New York-Total US oil demand took a nosedive the week ending November 27, falling 941,000 b/d to 18.72 million b/d with middle distillates experiencing the sharpest drop, an analysis of data released December 1 by the American Petroleum Institute showed. Middle distillates demand declined 691,000 b/d to 3.456 million b/d week over week, a figure more consistent with levels seen throughout 2009 as the recession played out rather than the prior week's 4.147 million b/d.
