Tokyo—The proportion of Japan’s crude imports originating from the Middle East rose to 88.7% in January from 86.2% a year earlier, according to preliminary figures released February 27 by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.It marked the third consecutive month of increases.Total crude imports dropped 19% on the year to 18.71 million kiloliters (3.80 million b/d), marking the fourth consecutive month imports have fallen year on year, METI said.
