Woodside posts 20% jump in Q1 production

Sydney-Australia's Woodside Petroleum has posted a 20% year-on-year increase in production for the first quarter as a result of contributions from new projects, the company said April 24.Woodside's total production for the three-month period was 20.6 million barrels of oil equivalent, up from 17.2 million boe in the first quarter of 2008, on the back of startups at Neptune and Power Play in the US Gulf of Mexico, train five and Angel at Australia's North West Shelf LNG project, and the Vincent field offshore Western Australia. In addition, Woodside's purchase of Shell's equity in the North West Shelf oil assets has been contributing to production since May 2008.
