BP announces oil in Kaskida field extension

Houston-BP said November 16 an appraisal well to test a western extension of the Kaskida field in the US Gulf of Mexico has confirmed oil in ultra-deep Lower Tertiary reservoirs. The well, drilled to a total depth of 32,500 feet, is located in Keathley Canyon Block 291 in 5,675 feet of water and 250 miles southwest of New Orleans. That is about five miles from the original Kaskida well at Keathley Canyon Block 292, BP spokesman Daren Beaudo told Platts.
