Indian refiner MRPL sees $58.77 million loss for Q4

Singapore-Indian refiner Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited January 20 posted a net loss of Rupees 2.85 billion ($58.77 million) for the fourth quarter of 2008, in contrast to a net profit of around Rupees 3.47 billion in the corresponding period a year ago. Total quarterly income of MRPL, the only refiner in India’s state-owned upstream group Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, dropped to Rupees 75.86 billion from Rupees 81.14 billion in Q4 2007.
