Cape Town, South Africa-Nigeria’s oil unions Pengassan and Nupeng said February 2 they are prepared to call an industry-wide strike from February 9 over the continuing insecurity and increase in worker abductions in the oilrich Niger Delta. The blue-collar Nupeng union’s chief, Peter Akapatson, said union officials held a meeting February 2 with ministry of labor officials to discuss their concerns and that further meetings are scheduled over the next few days.
