EU sees pipeline boost from plan to buy Caspian gas in a group

Ashgabat-The European Commission hopes to stimulate gas infrastructure for transit into Europe as part of plans for a special purpose private consortium for buying Caspian natural gas, a European Commission official said November 20. Derek Taylor, a senior advisor to the EC's Directorate for Energy & Transport, told Turkmenistan's 13th International Oil and Gas Conference in Ashgabat that the commission was "actively developing a mechanism for dealing with the Europe Union and downstream consumers."
