Dhaka-The Bangladesh government has moved the High Court to lift its 2001 ban on onshore oil and gas exploration by international oil companies, and plans to launch a new onshore bid round as soon as the court acts, a senior government official said October 15. The court's decision is expected "very soon," Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, energy adviser to the prime minister, said.
