Green Plains eyes ethanol production hike

Houston-US ethanol producer Green Plains Renewable Energy ramped up volumes of the blendable fuel in the second quarter and is eyeing even higher output by year-end, CEO Todd Becker said August 11. Omaha, Nebraska-based Green Plains produced and sold 77.1 million gallons of ethanol in Q2, and believes it can top that volume by 30% in Q3 with the startup of two new plants, Becker said in a quarterly earnings conference call.
