London-The UK needs to invest up to GBP200 billion ($321 billion) in its energy infrastructure over the next 10 years to secure future energy supplies and meet environmental goals, more than double the recent rate of investment, regulator Ofgem said in a report published October 9. Ofgem also warned that the needed new investment might lag behind the anticipated rebound in energy demand because of the ongoing uncertainty about the pace of economic recovery.
