Sinopec sets schedule for Maoming upgrade project

Hong Kong-Sinopec's 13.5 million mt/year (272,000 b/d) Maoming refinery in the southern Guangdong province plans to start building a 12 million mt/year atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit in September 2009, a company source said December 29. The crude topper is at the center of Sinopec Maoming's capacity expansion and upgrade program, which will eventually lift the refinery's processing capacity by almost 90% to 25.5 million mt/year (513,000 b/d).
