EU backs softer targets for carbon dioxide

London-The European Union has agreed to soften proposed 2020 greenhouse gas reduction targets for road fuels in its final version of the EU's latest Fuel Quality Directive approved December 17. In a final agreement at the European Parliament, the directive will place an obligation on fuel suppliers to reduce greenhouse gases from the entire fuel production chain by 6% by 2020.
