ExxonMobil unfazed by Point Thomson rejection

Anchorage-ExxonMobil said November 17 it will continue preparations for drilling this winter at the disputed Point Thomson gas field on Alaska's North Slope despite the state's rejection of a key permit. The state Department of Natural Resources on November 14 denied ExxonMobil's application for a permit to build a 60 mile winter ice road to move a drilling rig to Point Thomson. Point Thomson leaseholders are engaged in a contentious dispute with the state over development of the field.
