Jakarta-Japan's Tokyo Gas has dropped plans to buy 500,000 mt/year of LNG from Indonesia's Tangguh project, which originally had been allocated to US energy company Sempra, a senior Indonesian official said November 26. "Tokyo Gas had sent us a formal letter about its intention to drop the plan to purchase LNG from Tangguh diversion [volumes]," said R. Priyono, the chairman of Indonesia's upstream regulator BPMigas. A Tokyo Gas official declined to comment. "We don't comment on our LNG purchase negotiations, so we cannot comment whether we were in the negotiations to purchase LNG from the Tangguh project," he said.
