London-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev November 20 ordered the country's gas giant Gazprom to recover Ukraine's longstanding gas debt, which Medvedev put at $2.4 billion, as a fresh disagreement over the size of the bill threaten to rekindle a previous clash over gas prices. "It is necessary to decide [what to do with] the debt" and make Ukraine "repay the debt either voluntarily or forcibly, according to the current legislation and within the framework of our bilateral relationship," Medvedev told Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller in televised comments.
