India's LNG price halves to $11.50/MMBtu

Ahmedabad, India-LNG prices in India have plummeted to around $11.50/MMBtu, or just half their summer peak of more than $22/MMBtu, industry sources said last week. Gujarat Paguthane Energy Company, which operates a 655 MW combined cycle, dual-fuel power plant, fired with natural gas or naphtha, in the southern part of Gujarat state in western India, is thought to have bought supplies at an ex-terminal price of around $11.50/MMBtu from the Shell-operated Hazira LNG import facility, the sources said. GPEC is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based power utility CLP.
