Petrobras mulls ethanol projects outside Brazil

Rio de Janeiro—Brazil’s Petrobras is in talks to promote new sugarcane ethanol mills in other countries, including Colombia and Nigeria, and also expects to begin studying ethanol ventures throughout the Caribbean region, CEO Jose Gabrielli said March 13. In a briefing with reporters, Gabrielli said Petrobras is in “preliminary discussions” for ethanol projects in both Colombia and Nigeria.
