Lagos—Militants have released the 24 Filipinos held hostage for three weeks in the oil-producing Niger Delta, police said February 13. “I have just been informed now that all the Filipino hostages have been released by their captors. I am still awaiting the details,” police spokesman Haz Iwendi told Platts. Other police sources said the hostages, who were kidnapped when gunmen attacked their cargo vessels in Warri January 20, were released by midnight February 12. “The hostages were released around midnight yesterday and left Warri for Abuja this morning,” a source said.
