Almaty, Kazakhstan-Kazakhstan's new law on subsoil use, a law that allows the state to unilaterally terminate or demand amendments to contracts with energy companies, might be a tool used in negotiations with key projects, such as Kashagan, but it also could be the start of something more problematic, legal experts believe.
