KNOC, Italy’s Eni find oil in offshore Indonesian blocks

Jakarta—Korea National Oil Corporation and Italy’s Eni have both discovered oil at wells offshore Indonesia, the companies said in separate statements February 16. KNOC said it had found oil at the Bumerah-1 well in Indonesia’s Wokam block in offshore Papua province. Preliminary estimates have pegged the block’s potential at up to 671 million barrels of oil, but the South Korean company would have to drill two delineation wells to appraise the discovery, Achmad Luthfi, deputy planning chief at Indonesian upstream regulator BPMigas, said February 16.
