Alaska state officials to revamp pipeline rules after BP oil spill

State of Alaska officials said April 5 they will revamp new regulations covering oilfield pipeline integrity and are forming a technical task force of three state agencies and the federal Office of Pipeline Safety to guide future regulatory oversight.Governor Frank Murkowski ordered creation of the task force after returning from an inspection of spill cleanup operations from a 34-inch oilfield pipeline in a BP-operated Prud-hoe Bay field on the North Slope.
