Japan Energy parent boosts interim income by 38%

Singapore-Nippon Mining Holdings, the parent company of refiner Japan Energy, has reported a 38.2% year-on-year increase in net income for the six months ended September 30 to Yen 72.516 billion (616.1 million). Sales were up 32.4% at Yen 1.81 trillion. The performance for the half marks a reversal from the April-June period, the first quarter of the company's current fiscal year, when net income slipped 22.6% to Yen 22.4 billion on lower sales margins and losses in inventory valuations.
