New York-Chevron and USA Petroleum,aprivate Los Angeles area-based gasolineretailer,said July 14 Chevron would buy122 USA Petroleum service stations inCalifornia.Richmond-based Chevron plans tooperate the 122 stations and to "upgradethe sites with new image standards,eitherunder the Chevron or Texaco brand," themajor said in a statement. About 1,500 ofCalifornia's 10,000 retail service stationsare currently branded either Chevron orTexaco,Chevron said.
