BHP Billiton makes oil, gas find offshore Trinidad

Sydney-Anglo Australian resources giant BHP Billiton has made a potentially commercial oil and gas discovery at its Ruby-1 well, drilled recently in shallow waters offshore Trinidad, the company said in a statement late November 2. Drilling of the Ruby-1 well began the first week of September in Block 3(a) using the jackup rig Nabors 657. The well is located nearly 30 miles (48 km) off the northeast coast of Trinidad in water depths of 200 feet.
