Royal Dutch Shell emerged March 21 as the mystery buyer behind a massive C465 million(400 million)purchase of 88,576 hectares of Crown oil sands leases in Alberta's Athabasca area February 8.Shell paid more than l,800/acre for what on the surface is mostly swampy muskeg,accounting for 83% of the bonus payments in that record C559 million government oil sands lease sale.
