Venezuela wants to merge Orinoco projects

Caracas-Venezuela is proposing to combine the Petrozuata and Ameriven heavy oil upgrading ventures in the Orinoco belt into one company, Eulogio Del Pino, a director for Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA, said November 2. The move would come as part of a conversion process under which Venezuela is demanding that the four ventures in the Orinoco belt give majority participation to PDVSA. The state company currently has minority stakes in the projects, which it shares with majors ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Total, BP and Statoil.
