Devon Canada needs only winter freeze-up to start drilling the first exploratory well in the Canadian Beaufort Sea since 1989,hoping to establish a "critical mass" of natural gas to support the proposed Mackenzie Valley pipeline,said company vice president Michel Scott.Without a find of "significance" there is no chance that the Mackenzie proponents will increase their pipeline capacity above the expected initial volumes of 1.2 Bcf/d,he told Platts Sep 21.
