Gazprom begins building direct gas pipeline route to Europe via Baltic Sea

Babaevo,Russia-Russian gas giant Gazprom Dec 9 started construction of an ambitious North European Gas Pipeline (NEGP) to export gas directly to Europe via the Baltic Sea,bypassing transit states."The North European Gas Pipeline will increase significantly reliability and flexibility of gas deliveries from Russia," Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said Dec 9 at an official ceremony in the northern Russian town of Babaevo for the symbolic welding of the pipelined first joint.
