US gasoline consumption off to negative start in 2009

New York-US retail gasoline demand fell,as did prices,in the survey week ended January 2,according to a weekly survey released January 6 by MasterCard Advisors.On a four-week moving average,at-the-pump gasoline demand fell 4% from the year-ago period,with an average 64.064 million barrels consumed,down from the year-ago amount of 66.700 million barrels,the consultancy said.
