Surgutneftegaz warns of 2008 output decline

Moscow—Russia's fourth-largest oil producer Surgutneftegaz aims to keep its 2008 crude output flat from last year's 64.5 million mt (1.29 million b/d), but does not rule out a possible 3% decline, Deputy General Director Vyacheslav Nikiforov said April 16. The company plans to pump "the same volume of crude as it produced last year," Nikiforov said. But output may actually decline by some 2 million mt, due to delays in the commissioning of a new export pipeline being built across East Siberia toward the Pacific Ocean, he added.
