US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said June 11 he would attend the June 22 meeting in Jeddah proposed June 9 by Saudi Arabia to discuss the causes behind high world oil prices. But he insisted that prices, which last week climbed above 139/barrel, were being driven by fundamentals of supply and demand and not, as Saudi Arabia and other OPEC producers have argued, speculative activity on futures markets.
