Blendstocks/feedstocks: MTBE skyrockets in Europe

The MTBE flat price rose higher Friday, finishing the week at l,300.50/mt. The run up to another all time high was sparked by the rally in crude. The knock-on effect was to drive gasoline prices higher, pulling up MTBE in the process. Demand in NWE was seen as flat. One area of demand that remains supportive of MTBE prices is the Mediterranean where the seasonal summer upturn is having a more pronounced effect than in NWE.
