StatoilHydro in crude dispute with Western Refining

New York—StatoilHydro is suing Western Refining over the refiner's decision not to honor its agreement to process Grane crude produced offshore Norway at its 61,900 b/d Yorktown, Virginia, plant, Western Refining revealed in a securities filing late April 15. Western said it declared force majeure earlier this year under its crude oil supply agreement with StatoilHydro "based on the effects of the Grane crude oil on its plant and equipment." StatoilHydro is alleging breach of contract and is seeking damages of more than 100 million in the Superior Court of Delaware. Western said it has not yet been served with the lawsuit, which was filed in court on March 28.
