OPEC links price slide to future supply

Vienna-OPEC warned October 24 as it cut its crude output by 1.5 million b/d that many existing oil projects could be threatened by the precipitous slide in oil prices,leading to a possible supply shortage in the medium term.In its official communique released after emergency talks in Vienna,OPEC noted that"oil prices have witnessed a dramatic collapse-unprecedented in speed and magnitude-these falling to levels which may put at jeopardy many existing oil projects and lead to the cancellation or delay of others,possibly resulting in a medium-term supply shortage."
