New York—US petroleum balances continued to tighten courtesy a sharp drop in crude stocks the week ending December 14, according to an analysis of data released December 19 by the Energy Information Administration. Futures market reacted bull-ishly to the headline numbers, with February NYMEX crude settling 1.16/barrel higher at 91.24/b. January heating oil settled 4.25 cents higher at 2.5979/gal and January RBOB settled 2.76 cents higher at 2.3319/gal.
