Chevron moves on 500 million refinery plan

New York-In the second big US gasoline production announcement in a month,Cheyron said October 15 it will spend 500 million to hike output at its 330,000 b/d Pascagoula,Mississippi,refinery.The decision follows the announcement by Shell and Saudi Aramco in late September that they would move forward on a 7 billion plan to create the US'biggest refinery,with 600,000 b/d of capacity(ON 9/24).That expansion will have all the units of a separate refinery tied into the existing Port Arthur,Texas,plant starting in 2010.The refinery will produce more gasoline,diesel and aviation fuel,according to Shell,which would not give further details.
