US farm bill to provide 1.6 billion for renewables

Washington-The Bush administration January 31 released its proposals for a wide-ranging farm bill the US Congress is to write this year,urging lawmakers to provide 1.6 billion in support of rural renewable fuels production.The energy focus is on commercializing cellulosic ethanol,which will be needed to meet President Bush's goal of blending 35 billion gal/year of alternative or renewable fuels into gasoline in 10 years.
