OPEC sees need to pump more oil to balance market

Vienna-OPEC March 15 raised its estimate of world oil demand this year and trimmed its forecast for growth in supply from non-OPEC producers,raising the expected "call"on its own crude production.In the latest monthly oil market report from its Vienna secretariat,OPEC said it would have to pump an average of 30.4 million b/d to balance supply and demand,more than 400,000 b/d above its own estimate of production in February.With cold weather in February providing a shot in the arm for US demand,particularly for distillates but also gasoline,OPEC said it now expected world oil demand to average 85.48 million b/d this year,110,000 b/d more than previously predicted.
