EU gets five emission plans by Mar 31 deadline in CO2 trading scheme

The European Commission has received only five National Allocation Plans from member states setting out their carbon emissions reduction targets,a key step in the EU's C02 emissions trading scheme.The EU's 15 members states were due to submit the national plans to the commission by midnight Mar 31 but many countries,including the UK and France,said they needed more time to finalize their figures."We are confident that in a reasonable time,maybe a couple of weeks,we will have the others(national plans)in the commission," a spokeswoman for the environment commission said.
