Shell preparing to ramp up Niger output

Paris-Shell and ChevronTexaco were preparing to ramp up production from their Niger Delta operations Wednesday after nearly a four-week halt to part of their Nigerian production. Shell is preparing to reopen the southern swamps, which will raise its production of Forcados crude from 158,000 b/d to 258,000 b/d, half the volume it was pumping before the March closures.
