NBN Co. achieved revised targets as FY 2013 closed in June

NBN Co's operational data for the period ending June 30, 2013 indicated the company had passed 207,500 premises, which met its revised goal of passing 190,000-220,000 premises. The total number of residential and business premises subscribing to NBN services reached 70,100; however, the number of FTTH subscribers was 33,600. The difference between the two data points is due to a small number of fixed-wireless subscribers and 34,600 subscribers taking satellite service. FTTH penetration now stands at 16%. Fixed wireless subscribers now are able to receive 25/5Mbps speeds after a recent service upgrade doubled download speeds. The targeted completion date for the fixed wireless network is 2015 and will cover approximately 500,000 premises. Combined fixed-wireless and satellite service will cover 7% of the Australian population.
