China Mobile may hold the answer to how long the fibre market stays flat

Why would a cellular (wireless) phone company have a major effect on the fibre market? China Mobile, which has almost 750 million mobile subscribers, uses vast amounts of fibre in its infrastructure. Since 2007, China Mobile has been the world's largest customer for optical cable, and in fact the company issues separate tenders for bare fibre and the cable-making process. The fibre and cable tenders for 2013 have been delayed since late 2012.
