The major manganese alloy markets entered a phase of limited trading in July. However, the slowdown in buying activity in the summer period this year is not at all related to weak demand. On the contrary, crude steel production has posted exceptionally solid growth rates in all regions, with total world production rising by 12.68 percent year-on-year in June. The corresponding strong growth in underlying consumption of manganese alloys across the world has been a major factor supporting prices.
