Last month, we estimated that North American car and light truck production in July would likely be lower, as several US facilities would either close or cut back during the 4th July holiday. However, due to strong demand, Ford and Chrysler announced that they would shorten summer slowdowns at their North American plants. As a result, production in July totaled 1.08 million units.
